NO WARRIOR SHOULD HAVE TO STRUGGLE ALONE
IAM23 is a Veteran based initiative to ensure that individuals with PTSD have an outlet of support amongst their fellow veterans, and a unique place to share their stories of success and how they are successfully overcoming PTSD. IAM23 will partner with corporate and communities organizations to assist fellow Veterans in need, and to assist in finding solutions to this issue. With this support, IAM23 will provide a place for Veteran’s who are winning the battle on PTSD to share their success, and to help those in need from becoming yet another statistic.
IT IS ESTIMATED THAT 50% OF VETERANS
KNOW SOMEONE WHO HAS COMMITTED SUICIDE
Among male and female veterans, 31% reported PTSD symptoms one year after deployment.
In 2010, Veterans accounted for 22% of all deaths from suicide and 9.7% of the population.
After adjusting for differences in age, risk for suicide was 18% higher among male Veterans when compared to U.S. civilian adult males.
After adjusting for differences in age, risk for suicide was 2.4 times higher among female Veterans when compared to U.S. civilian adult females.
We can’t let PTSD continue to control our warriors’ daily lives. By providing more effective treatments for PTSD, IAM23 is stepping forward to put an end to the loss of more of our warriors to suicide.
THERE IS LIFE AFTER BATTLE. IAM23 IS HERE TO HELP.
